Lesson Title: How corrosive are acids?,Lesson No: 2 ,Unit Title: Acids and alkalis

,Unit No: 7Ea,NC Ref:

,Objectives:
Different acids have different strengths.
Some acids are more corrosive than others.
Planning a fair test with multiple input variables and outcomes.
,Lesson outline:

Starter: look up hazchem cards of chemicals in today's
lesson

Using Planning post-it poster, what will affect how
corrosive an acid is.
Input: type of acid and strength (molarity) etc
Outcome: how fizzy, time taken for reaction to stop etc

Carry out experiment - GOGGLES
(Half class do strength of acid and half do type of acid)

Plenary: Discuss conclusions
,Homework:
7Eb/4 (easy) or 7Eb/5 (harder) both need 7Eb/6 for reference - real life use of Hazchem code
,Resources:
Hydrochloric acid, sulphuric and nitric acids, magnesium ribbon.
1M, 0.5M, 0.1M and 0.01M of one acid type
Planning poster, post-it notes, hazard cards
